In order to rent a car in Mexico, you will need to have your driver's license and an accepted credit card available.

Foreign and International driving licenses are accepted. You do not need any other form of documentation in order to drive in Mexico.

Driving laws and culture on Mexico
Driving is on the right-hand side as in the U.S. Roads are well-marked, and distances are measured in kilometers. The speed limits range from 100-120 km/h. Expect to be stopped at a drug inspection station and searched.

You may have to pay in order to park in Mexican cities, and parking may be difficult to find.

Seatbelt, safety seat, and helmet policy on Mexico
All drivers and passengers must wear their seatbelts, and all motorcyclists must wear helmets. Children under four-years-old should be in a child safety seat. Older children should ride in the back seat.

Road contitions on Mexico
A lot of main roads are privately-owned toll roads. Many of the roads are narrow two-lane roads. Watch out for livestock and other animals along the roads. Also watch out for bicyclists and always drive carefully, especially at dark.
